Jan-27-Countdown Conundrums

Keyword: RULE by: Robert

Exodus 28:30: And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim and they shall be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before the LORD. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the LORD continually.

Countdown Conundrums

The British game show called ‘Countdown’ first aired in 1982 and is one of the longest running game shows in the world. One it’s most popular items is the conundrum section, which is a buzzer round where contestants try and become the quickest to solve a nine-letter anagram. I rarely manage to solve the puzzle. How about you?

Most all of the time for me and I suspect for you as well, discerning the best choices in life, the God choices in life

Jan-25-The Ploughman's Poet

Keyword: THANKFUL by: Robert

Proverbs 19:21: There are many plans in a man's heart, Nevertheless the Lord's counsel — that will stand. NKJV

The Ploughman’s Poet

Rabbie Burns, the Bard of Ayrshire, poet, lyricist, Scotland’s most famous son, is tonight celebrated worldwide especially amongst the Scottish Diaspora, because tonight of course, is ‘Burns Night.’

Without me going into the ritual and content of Burns; Night supper, which is co-centerd around a Haggis and a speech made to the Immortal memory of Rabbie Burns, let me cut to the end of the might, where the proceeding are closed with favourite a collection of some of the songs and poems of this most famous Ploughman’s Poet.

My favourite Burns poem is ‘Tae a Moose’ or better still

Jan-18-Swimming in the Swamping!

Keyword: PROMISE by: Robert

Acts 2: 1: When the Day of Pentecost had fully come……

Luke 8:23 says, “But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped”…(NASUB). ’

Here in our text for today, the same Greek verb for ‘swamped’ is used and translated here as ‘fully come’. The idea is that both the will and the good desire of God, so long promised, was now fiercely flooding into the space-time continuum and even breaking over the glorious gunnels of the purposes of God! Pentecost, blown by this good gale of God, was overflowing into the world. Imagine that!

Pentecost was a festival of harvest, a festival of first fruits. It was a social gathering, a festival of good cheer, a

Jan-18-The Dance of Death

Keyword: REVIVE by: Robert

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. NKJV

The Dance of Death

The local soccer team in the city in which I presently reside, bears a name similar to many soccer teams in the United Kingdom. It is called Brighton & Hove Albion.

‘Albion’ of course, has become the ancient name for these islands of mine, this other Eden, this demi paradise, this little world, this nurse, this teeming womb of royal kings, feared by their

Jan-16-Pumped Up Accordion Players

Keyword: PERSEVERANCE by: Robert

Acts 1:14: These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

To be in accord, is ‘to bring into agreement; or to be consistent in harmony.’ In 1822 in Berlin, Friedrich Buschmann, inventor of the harmonica, also patented a prototype accordion using buttons rather than keys. The accordion, a portable musical instrument, uses a hand-pumped bellows and two keyboards either side of those bellows, which effectively resemble individual reed organs. To make a sound, air flows over small metal tongues which then vibrate!

So, returning from Olivet, with a glimpse of resurrection power, an open heaven and even an angelic visitation, the disciples now arrive
